Leadership Positions still available

We still have some leadership positions that are needing to be filled before the start of this MOPS year.  Please let Christa know if you would like to be part of the leadership team this year!

Publicity-
The Publicity leader will need to exhibit writing skills and can organize information, meet deadlines, edit when necessary and put together material that reflects quality in both appearance and content. Creatively publicizes MOPS meetings and special events in the community through a variety of tools. Facilitates communication among MOPS moms through newsletters, maintaining the Blog and Facebook page* and other areas of communication. Serves on the Steering Team and attends meetings.
*The Blog and Facebook portion of this position has been filled. We still need someone to help with other aspects of publicity including the newsletter and publicizing meetings to our community.

Hospitality-
The Hospitality leader organizes the refreshments at each MOPS meeting, including the ordering and picking up of the Thursday night dinner.  Helps set up and clean up the room for each meeting (any table decorations, eating utensils, etc.) which requires arriving early.  Sends birthday cards to all MOPS attendees. Two mothers can choose to do this position together to help ease set up and dinner.  Serves on the steering team and attends meetings.

Foster/Adoptive Group Leader-
The group leader helps welcome moms during meeting time.  Leads the small group in uplifting, God honoring & appropriate conversation, takes prayer requests and is comfortable in a small group setting.  Sends birthday cards to the moms in her small group.  Plans socials and play dates for the group on a regular basis.

One thing that our family is doing this year is kids movies!  Both Regal and Carmike are doing kids movies at 10am.  You can get the Regal show list on their website by searching for 'summer movie express'.  It only costs $1.  For Carmike they charge $2 but you also get popcorn and a drink with that.  You can get their list of movies also on their website by searching '2012 Summer Kid Series'.

I look forward to seeing you at the playdates.  All of this information will be on our Facebook page and our blog: http://centralbeardenmops.blogspot.com/.  Also, if you have not registered for MOPS next year, you can find the registration link on our blog.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please feel free to pass this information along to other moms that might need a playdate!
Thanks,
Christa Margene

Recipe Exchange

Hello Ladies!!

Last month we had a recipe exchange and I was going to post the recipes here, but it was faster (and easier) to make a new Pinterest board with all of the shared recipes on it.  Even if you are not on Pinterest you should still be able to see our board and browse through the great recipes that were shared.

I hope everyone is having a great Spring Break!

February Newsletter

Our first February meeting is tomorrow night at 6pm.  I do hope you will join us!  We will be hearing from Melissa Bibb who is a librarian.

At tomorrow's meeting we will also be getting this month's newsletter!  There are so many new things to share about our upcoming schedule I couldn't wait to post it online.  Did you know that you can view all of this year's past newsletters from our blog?  You can!  And today you can even preview the newsletter that we will be getting tomorrow!

In it I mention a few online articles that I just thought everyone of our moms would benefit in reading.  They are Five Ways to Love Your Children Well and 10 Ways to Love Your Kids.  Take a moment and read both of these carefully.   I might even be printing out that second list to stick in my Bible as a handy reminder.

Christmas Party!!

On Tuesday, December 13th we will be having a Christmas Party at one of our mentor's homes.  The address and time will be sent out to our members in an email this week.  To sign up to bring a dessert or an appetizer please use this sign up sheet.  Instead of doing an ornament exchange or white elephant we will just be playing games and enjoying fellowship together.  Childcare will not be provided.  We hope to see you there!

November Newsletter

The November newsletter has been posted to our newsletter page.  Here are the links to the websites that were mentioned on the front page of this month's newsletter:

From experience in making this cheesecake I can tell you that it is vital to use very soft cream cheese and room temperature eggs.  If you use cold cream cheese it will not mix with the other ingredients very well and you will end up with chunks of unmixed cream cheese in your cheesecake.  Also, if the cheesecake batter is too cold when it goes in the oven it will not finish baking in the time allowed in the recipe and no one likes a raw cheesecake!  Another variation on this cheesecake is to use ginger snap cookie crumbs in the crust instead of graham crackers.  We like to serve this cheesecake with whipped cream!

If you children are allergic to peanut butter and you can't use Nutter Butters you can find more turkey cupcake ideas here.  I bought a whole extra bag of candy corn after Halloween just so I could make these!

Question of the Month!

I know several of our moms have babies that have winter birthdays.  This question is for them:
If your child has a winter birthday, what are some birthday party ideas that are indoor and affordable?
Please share your answer here below as a comment or on our facebook page.
